What's New?
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) has updated signage to reflect terminal and gate-sign terminology used at most other airports. The enhancements are designed to make it easier for travelers to navigate inside and outside of the airport.
- Terminals are numbered 1 and 2 (formerly A and B/C).
- Gate names added a letter (A, B, C, D, E) in front of the existing number.
- No airlines or gates have moved. This is just a signage enhancement project.
When are the changes effective?
- Saturday, June 4: Enhanced gate signs were unveiled inside terminals.
- Sunday, June 5: Airline boarding passes and flight information screens began reflecting alphanumeric gate names (A1, B10, C22, D35, E46, etc).
- June 6-10: Roadway, Metro and parking signs were changed during the week. Passengers are advised to follow signs with airline names for guidance during this transition.
- Permanent signs will gradually replace those with temporary patches to complete the new look.
Why is this needed?
- The sign enhancements adopt navigation standards found at many other airports worldwide.
- The enhanced system will make Reagan National easier to navigate, from the roads to the gates.
